The colorful painting depicts an abstract animal motif: The badger composed of graceful patches of color.

"Rare Badger" from the picture series "Out of the Light" features colorful and graceful images.Color areas, strokes, paint drips, and imprints from water-mixable oil paint. The color areas result in aAbstract composition that simultaneously suggests a badger. The lightness in the image primarily arises from the minimalist painting.

The ease of painting leads to the magical.

The lightness of the painting comes from the brightness of the white-primed canvas combined with the colorful, gracefully applied patches of color. These create an exciting, seemingly random composition. The grace of the patches is crucial for the calm yet stimulated perception of the composition, as they allow the viewer to continually shift their perspective, even after prolonged viewing. Parts of the patches define the shape of the roof, while the colors partially convey the sense of space. The magic arises between the concrete outline of the animal and the abstract composition of the patches.

The contemplation of abstract painting and the concrete motif creates an interaction of perception.

Although the painting is experimental, it is still "slowed down" by certain boundaries. The outline of the roof acts as a kind of barrier when mixing colors. This ensures that the subject is always perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is shown in the colors of itself and its surroundings. This results in spontaneous form and color compositions within a conceptual framework. Since the subject is only built over part of the boundaries of color blending, the eye continually shifts back to the abstract overall composition.
