The colorful painting depicts an abstract animal motif: The bee made of color patches.

"Rare Bee" from the photo series "Out of the Light" features colorfulColor fields, strokes, drops of paint, and imprints made with water-mixable oil paint. The color areas result in aabstract composition that simultaneously hints at a bee. The lightness of the animal motif in the picture is primarily created through the minimalistic painting style.

The ease of painting leads to the magical.

The lightness of the painting is achieved through the brightness of the white-primed canvas combined with the colorful, gracefully applied areas of color. These create a stimulating, seemingly random composition. The grace of the color areas is crucial for the calm yet engaging perception of the composition, as they allow the viewer to experience a shift in perspective even after prolonged viewing. Parts of the color areas define the shape of the bee, while the colors partially convey a sense of space. The magic arises between the concrete outline of the bee and the abstract composition of the color areas.

The contemplation of abstract painting and the concrete subject creates an interplay of perception.

While the painting is experimental, it is still "slowed down" at certain boundaries. The outline of the bee acts as a kind of barrier when mixing colors. This ensures that the motif remains perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is shown in the colors of itself and its surroundings. This way, spontaneous form and color compositions are created within the framework of a concept. Since the motif is only built over part of the boundaries of color mixing, the eye repeatedly shifts back to the abstract overall composition.
