The colorful painting depicts an abstract animal motif: The carp made of color patches.
"Rare Carp" from the series "From the Light" features colorfulcolor patches, strokes, paint drops, and imprints made with water-mixable oil paint. The color patches form anabstract composition that simultaneously suggests a carp. The lightness of the animal motif in the painting is primarily achieved through the minimalistic painting style.
The lightness of the painting leads to a sense of magic.
The lightness of the painting is achieved through the brightness of the white-primed canvas combined with the colorful, gracefully applied color patches. These create an exciting, seemingly random composition. The grace of the color patches is crucial for the calm yet stimulating perception of the composition, as they allow the viewer to continuously change their perspective even after prolonged viewing. Parts of the color patches define the shape of the carp, while the colors partially convey a sense of space. The magic arises between the concrete outline of the fish and the abstract composition of the color patches.
The observation of the abstract painting and the concrete motif creates an interplay of perception.
Although the painting is experimental, it is "slowed down" at certain boundaries. The outline of the carp acts as a kind of barrier when mixing the colors. This ensures that the motif is always perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is depicted in the colors of itself and its surroundings. This results in spontaneous form and color compositions within a conceptual framework. Since the motif is only built over part of the boundaries of the color mixing, the eye constantly shifts back to the abstract overall composition.
Interesting facts about modern painting in "Rare Carp".
Despite the many colors, the modern animal motif has a rather subtle effect and can be enjoyed both from a distance and up close.
The painting is signed, and the edges are also painted white. The artwork can therefore be immediately displayed with two nails in the wall. If you prefer to have a frame made for the painting, I recommend visiting a specialty store near you or ordering a frame online (30 x 24 cm is a standard size, so the selection of frames will be very large).
The presentation of the artwork is authentic but not perfect.
The photos you see above were taken by me - as best as I could. Since I am not a professional photographer, the colors you see may slightly differ from the original.
The photos showing the painting in a room were created using the "Smartist" app. This app can frame paintings and allows for a neat, stylish presentation in different rooms. The size ratio of painting to room is accurately represented. The painting is sold without a frame.
Feel free to visit me at the studio or ARTLET if you want to take a look at the original.
