The small painting shows an abstract animal motif: The bird made of color fields.

"Rare Bird" from the series "From the Light" shows colorfulcolor fieldsstrokes, drops, and imprints that form an animal motif. The color fields create anabstract composition that simultaneously hints at a bird. The lightness of the painting is primarily achieved through the reduced painting.

The lightness of the painting leads to the magical.

The lightness of the painting is created by the brightness of the white-primed canvas combined with the earthy, gracefully applied color fields. These create an engaging, seemingly random composition. The grace of the color fields is very crucial for the calm yet stimulating perception of the composition, as they allow the viewer to change their perspective even after looking at it for a long time. Parts of the color fields determine the shape of the bird, while the colors - partially - reflect the spatiality. The magic arises between the concrete outline of the bird and the abstract composition of the color fields.

The viewing of the abstract painting and the concrete motif creates an interplay of perception.

Although the painting is experimental, it is still "slowed down" at certain boundaries. The outline of the bird acts as a kind of barrier when mixing the colors. This ensures that the subject is always perceptible. The choice of colors is also not entirely random: the animal motif is shown in the colors of itself and its surroundings. This way, spontaneous form and color compositions arise within the framework of a concept. Since the motif is only built over part of the boundaries of the color mixtures, the eye repeatedly shifts to the abstract overall composition.
