The landscape as an experiment.
"Field of Mars LIII" measures 30 x 24 cm, is made from leftover paint, and was created as part of an experiment. The paint remnants used for this painting are colorful. Acrylic paints, oil paints, and varnish residues interact in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. The sizes of the paint remnants range from very fine dust to paint chunks about 0.2 cm in diameter. It is the differences in size that allow for a composition—in this case, a landscape with a subtle crater seen from above.
An abstract painting made from paint remnants.
From a distance, the work at first appears to depict a pink, beach-like surface. As you approach the painting, you realize it is actually colorful, made up of small remnants of paint. The abstract painting becomes more concrete the longer you look at it: in your mind, wind, water, and eventually the morphology of a crater in the landscape begin to appear.
An abstract artwork for the niche.
"Field of Mars LIII" is a small painting. It’s best showcased in a small room, hallway, stairwell, or niche. The unusual sense of space—the genuine tactile quality (three-dimensional) combined with contrasts (two-dimensional)—together with the simple composition creates a very original and interesting ambiance that can only be fully discovered over time. The spatial and compositional effect of the abstract artwork is extremely subtle, giving the painting a refined, elegant, and stimulating character. This small format works best in a small, bright niche.
Buy a painting at a low price
The "Fields of Mars" look very elegant in vertical or horizontal rows. This way, even larger spaces can be decorated with the small-format Fields of Mars. When hanging paintings side by side, it's important to note that variety is key. A crater that appears yellow-brown from afar, set among beach-like reddish wave structures and a grayish-looking whirlpool, is more inspiring to the eye than several craters of the same size next to each other.

These can easily be overlooked as patterns. What’s also interesting is the price: While the images on the topic of “Field of Mars” aren’t cheap, they’re extremely affordable for the quality. For some, this means a relatively low-risk entry into the world of contemporary art. For others, it’s an opportunity to stylishly, interestingly, and affordably decorate smaller spaces. With this kind of art, you make a subtle statement. The paint remnants as a defining element add something truly original to your decor. Don’t hesitate to request an art consultation from me before purchasing paintings.
Good to know.
The special adhesive for cotton and the binder used for these experiments ensure that the leftover paint adheres very well to the canvas. If some paint pieces do fall off—perhaps during transport or due to curious children’s fingers—it’s not a problem: All "Field of Mars" paintings are made up of several layers of glued paint remnants, so the canvas remains covered even if it suffers minor damage.
I always strive to present an authentic image of my work on the website. The photos of the paintings are taken in the studio or next door in the living room. THowever, the colors you see on your monitor may differ slightly from the actual colors of the painting. The images showing the painting in a room were created using the "Smartist" app. This app displays paintings in exactly the right scale for the space and can also show artworks in any frame you like.
