Marsfeld - discover abstract landscape paintings - art from paint residues

This art carries tension within its very name. The outer neighboring planet of Earth, due to its red color, was associated with the god of war. With their surfaces made up of dried paint remnants and chunks from the palette, these works visually resemble the geology of the planet Mars.

The word 'field', whether in the sense of ground, playing field, or area of activity, can also be read as a synonym for order. This is how the title of this series, 'Mars Field', came about.

Arrangements of leftover paint create abstract landscape images.

Artworks from the Marsfeld series feature abstract landscapes. The modern, often small-format paintings depict landscapes—or fragments of them—from a bird's eye view. From a great distance, they appear earthy. Only up close can one see the many vibrant colors of the dried paints.

"The thought came while sweeping the studio: new from the rubble. By breaking and shattering old paint remnants, I create fields reminiscent of the weathered Mars. On them, delicate new orders develop."

The Originthe Marsfield series.

A paint palette fell and shattered into many pieces. While sweeping it up, the idea came to me to create abstract images from the paint remnants. Since then, for my Marsfield paintings, I have been using old paint palettes from my art students and smashing them. This creates paint fragments of various sizes, which are then sorted by size: fine dust to paint chunks up to 1 cm are selected for the paintings.

The atmosphere is modern, the inspirations abstract - paintings from the "Mars Field" series.

The canvases are coated with binder. Then, they are experimentally processed, meaning the paint residues are scattered, sifted, thrown, and placed over the canvas until a landscape begins to emerge. In this way, something new is created from the destruction of something old: a delicate landscape as an abstract painting. This cause and effect also led to a title: 'Field of Mars.'

In your search for a painting that is both modern and understated, you've made a high-quality choice with the 'Marsfeld' works. My Marsfeld artworks are available in different versions and can even be wonderfully combined with each other. Various formats allow you to arrange these very fine, modern paintings in any room as you wish. The small formats fit well in niches but also make an impression when placed side by side in vertical or horizontal rows. The abstract landscape paintings are best chosen so that wave structures, crater-like formations, or beach-like artworks alternate.
